Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get the best TV signal for Freeview?

To view television channels correctly, a signal must be received by the set from one of the following sources:

  • An outdoor aerial
  • A cable television network

Then plug the aerial or cable network input cable to the 75 Ohms coaxial socket on the rear of the television. We do not advise the use of an inside aerial, as interference may be frequent and stronger and affect the viewing.

It is advisable to have an aerial installed by a professional installer to ensure optimum performance.

An excellent source of information relating to all aspects of the Freeview service can be found on the Freeview web site. It answers question about reception problems, digital switch over and also provides a helpful post code search which will enable you to look up the coverage in your area.

Does my Linsar Television receive both Analogue and Digital Channels?

All Linsar LCD TV screens have both analogue and digital tuners. This means that you can switch between the two tuners by pressing the correct button on your remote control. The analogue tuner provides normal TV reception (channels 1 to 5) and the digital tuner provides you with the Freeview channels provided you are in a Freeview reception area and have the appropriate aerial fitted (see question, How do I get the best TV signal for Freeview).

By the summer of 2012 the digital switchover will have completed. This is the process of turning off the UK's analogue TV signal and replacing it with a digital signal with is known as Freeview.
